‘MARS ATTACKS MT. PLEASANT’ PREMIERE DATE AND LOCATION SET

SCOTTDALE, PA – ‘Mars Attacks Mt. Pleasant,’ the independent film from Tremont Avenue Productions will premiere June 19, 2008, at the same location where the final scene of the film takes place – the Geyer Performing Arts Center in Scottdale.

Director Roger Marsh said the film continues in post-production and will be complete sometime in May. “We’re planning to screen the film to small audiences in Chicago,” Marsh said, “then finalize the master and send it off for DVD duplication – just in time for the June 19 premiere.”

Most of the film takes place inside and around the R&R Station Restaurant & Inn at 19 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant. The story centers around fictional characters Donna and Sam Steele – played by Scottdale-based actors Kat Post and Philip Haddad. The film also stars Deborah Franzen of Pittsburgh as Doris, Alex Etling as Daryl and Jack Simon as Roland – both of Greensburg.

Marsh said the film is a straight-to-DVD project, but that it will play first at the Geyer for two weeks – two shows nightly, Thursday through Sunday, beginning June 19. Marsh says he is in discussion with additional theaters in both Westmoreland and Allegheny counties that are interested in showing the film.

The DVD will be available to the public beginning June 19 for $22 at retail locations in southwestern, Pennsylvania. Marsh said that advance copies can be reserved now for $15 at the company Web site – www.dimenovel.com – but only for a short period of time.

“We’re allowing a limited number of DVDs to be pre-ordered at $15 to help fund the final phase of post-production,” Marsh said. “We’ll probably cut off the advance orders about May 31.” Tickets for the premiere – the very first showing on June 19 at 7 p.m. – will go on sale shortly and will be available for purchase at the Web site soon. A complete show schedule will be announced soon.
